But honestly having the zombies all sleeping is a bit.weird. It would also make it a bit less distracting. That way there is no way from the player to know there is a zombie there. I would prefer most of them be taken out OR have tons of furniture that -could- contain a zombie OR loot, and maybe nothing. I think the cabinet zombies are silly and don't like them at all. You can actually get unexpectedly overwhelmed that way in a tier 5 if you stop paying attention. But again, leave low difficulty as it is currently, for people who like it.Īlso, some advice - Playing on all nightmare speed (all zombie types, all times of day) and a high difficulty helps a little to alleviate the sameness and predictability. That would make looting an actual challenge. I wold also prefer vastly (and I mean VASTLY) more zombies wandering outdoors, and in wandering hordes. But leave a low difficulty as it is currently, for people who like it. I would like to return to A17 difficulty where if you made a loud noise you were swarmed by zombies from all directions. Standing outside a room and shooting them is silly.

I would prefer if more than 1 room full of zombies woke up though. I'm okay with zombies sitting in a stupor until they sense something nearby. Zombies aren't homeless people wandering around looking for second hand stuff. Rummaging though the trash though isn't something I think of a zombie doing. Occasionally fighting each other would be cool. Maybe they can add more sleeper spots so its a bit more random where they appear but what you're asking in the second part is a bit much for a AAA studio nevermind a small studio with a small team. Each zombie has to have its actions run by your computer, too many and your computer cant run the game. They have to act within certain limitations. When the player gets kinda near they need to move around in a random fashion. There needs to be a big bang at the start of the game where zombies are seeded across the map in completely random locations.

I'm a big fan of randomness in games of this nature. Building after building its the same boring sleepers in the same boring spots. Every building has their pre-defined sleeper spots. Coming upon a slumped over cheerleader who is OBVIOUSLY planted by the game designer just comes off as stupid.

It's a lazy ploy by the programmer, probably to save on performance. Originally posted by I can't spell:"Sleeper" zombies break immersion. The game has come a long way - this should be the next focus. Every zombie a unique creature random in appearance, behavior, sound AND location. Some hit you with a ton of bricks and some are weak. They also need to fight each other sometimes, they need to fall from high places and die, they need to have 500 different screams and guttural noises that are randomly uttered, they need to run away scared or sprint towards the player at extremely fast speeds once spotted and they need to snatch up objects and toss them at the player, including throwing other zombies! Some can be outrun and some can't. I want to come across a zombie rummaging through a trash can or a swarm of 20 zombies in a basement or, god forbid, surprised to discover a zombie in an unexpected place when I enter a building.
